Riding solo & unsupported across the United States of America on a Bicycle! This Blog tells the tale of a long haired English bloke on a bike called Shinto cycling across America starting in Oregon and ending in Yorktown Virginia, solo, no support vehicle, just a man, a bike and a tent on the Adventure Cycling Association Trans America Bicycle Trail. Please forgive the endless typos, this blog was uploaded as I rode from my Cellphone.

The horrible thing about chiggers is chiggers just ain't much fun. They're lumpy bumpy and make you grumpy...but the most horrible thing about chiggers is...there's always more than one!
.....these horrid little creatures live in the grass here...and I think my lower legs got bitten in Kentucky the other evening. They arnt dangerous, just itch a hell of a lot...oh well..lol!
Today is Sunday...I'm in a church hostel and reminded that god once mentioned that Sunday is a rest day. So today I have decided to agree with him and take a day.off.from the bike and the hills. The hostel here has all I need for $6 and it is a mice town...so I'm resting today...just in case I get struck down by thunder and lightening on the Sabbath you understand...not because I am lazy and there is a good ice cream parlour in town.
Actually there is a fair chance of catching a lot of rain in the next few days regardless of my actions on the Sabbath...as the storm from the gulf heads this way...well that is what the weather expert on a Harley on his way to church just told me lol!
There is a small alternate route here called the creeper trail...I won't ride it as it had loose shingle as a surface...so I will stick on the transam route. Scott and Anna are going that way today so ill go my own way agin from here. It was great riding with these guys for a couple of days..I wish you both good luck and tailwinds all the way to your destinations!
...ok..time get up and cycle the 100m to the ice cream shop lol!
